The David's Lodge.
Walking past Menotti's took you by the David's lodge. It was a Dove Haven, Plan No. 603, out of the Sear's 'Log Cabin and Summer Cottage' catalog, 1938. It had wood shingles instead of log siding. The shingles lasted nearly 50 years! Inside were 5 rooms and a big front porch overlooking the lake. The outdoor 'john' (outhouse) was built by the WPA in 1939. Never needed pumping although the septic tank exploded right before we sold the house.

The David's posted a number of name signs on a tree near the entrance to their cabin. Like everyone else. Some are 50 years old. A sign for each and every time....
